ICR's Electrical Equipment Safety Certification

As international trade conditions improve, such as integration and globalization of markets by region and country, and the expansion of FTAs, distribution of low-priced illegal and bad products and new products that have not been proven to be safe is increasing. Accordingly, advanced countries such as the U.S. and EU are strengthening safety management of imported consumer products to ensure safety of consumers, especially those used by children and the elderly and the weak.
In order to ensure the safety of the products used in our daily lives in addition to these changes in safety conditions, it is most necessary for businesses, consumers and the government to fulfill their respective roles, such as manufacturing, distribution, sales, and providing information to consumers, rational selection and use of products, and the government's efforts to overhaul the system to secure the safety of products.
The National Agency for Technology and Standards has implemented a product safety management system in accordance with the relevant laws, both before and after the product was released into the market, in order to strengthen the safety and safety of consumers from various household products.

Product Safety Management System

Prior to the launch of the product market, some products requiring pre-safety management based on the "Quality Management and Industrial Products Safety Management Act" and the "Electrical Goods Safety Management Act" require the licensee to release products that meet the minimum safety requirements in the market, and products that pose a threat to consumers safety or other products that are not in the market, based on the "Product Safety Basic Act."
First of all, the Product Certification System, which requires operators to market products that meet minimal safety requirements before the release of products under the "Quality Management and Industrial Products Safety Management Act" and the "Electrical Products Safety Management Act," can be recalled or distributed to prevent products that pose a safety threat to consumers through safety investigations and other products that are not under the "Product Safety Basic Act."

an outline of a system

Overview of the Safety Certification System

Under the provisions of Article 3 of the "Electrical Goods Safety Management Act," those who want to manufacture or export to Korea by manufacturing or manufacturing safety-certified electric appliances in foreign countries must receive safety certification from the safety certification authority before product is shipped (domestic manufacturing) and before customs clearance (imported products).

Overview of the Safety Check System

To apply the safety management procedures differently according to the level of hazards, considering changes in the surrounding environment such as increased supply of new products and the need to deregulate businesses due to the recent development of the electric and electronic industries, the "safety check system" is introduced from January 1, 2009 and the regular inspection procedures applied to electric appliances subject to safety verification are not applied to the existing safety certification target electrical appliances subject to existing safety certification.
